I read an article on Michelle Malkin's site this morning, about an interview with Democratic presidential candidate, Frank, uh, I mean, Bill Richardson.

Mr. Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, has recounted a story of a conversation he had with the mother of a fallen Marine Corp soldier from New Mexico. He had met Ms. Austin, mother of LCpl Austin, at the memorial service for her son, and has spoken of the conversation, on many occasion, as he is on the campaign trail.

Apparently, he has misquoted the Marine's name and age, during his on-going campaign, and even misrepresenting part of their brief conversation concerning military death benefits during the memorial service.

Well, Tim Russert, of Meet The Press, took Gov. Richardson to task yesterday concerning this bit of controversy. This governor is a shining example of the disconnect of real compassion concerning his constituents. When asked about the troubles Ms. Austin is having with his use of their 'conversation', Gov. Richardson skirted her concerns and pushed his own agenda. His response made her concerns to be of no importance. He didn't even have the integrity, or the balls, to give her the respect of an apology.

Perhaps an apology would have been saying, "I was wrong." That is something very hard for many to do in today's world...

Teachers in London and Wales given more disciplinary powers...

This past Sunday, in England and Wales, new laws have been put into effect, giving schools the statutory power to discipline students. This is an effort to curb the unruly behavior taking place in some of the schools there. Basically , teachers will be able to carry out disciplinary action without fear of reprisals form the parents of students.

The powers given however, will extend beyond the school grounds...

Not sure how well this will work, it could allow some to abuse their authority. Of course it would never fly here in America, since some in California, earlier this year, have proposed we go as far as imposing a fine, jail time, or both for parents that spank their own children...

Tragic story of a teacher

A story, covered primarily by bloggers, of the brutal death of a Nigerian school teacher named Christianah Oluwatoyin Olusase is quite shocking. It seems the original news source reporting it was the Compass Direct News. If this story is indeed fact, perhaps no other news source would cover it for fear of offending our muslim neighbors. Isn't that our normal approach?

In America...



Our own teachers are facing violence from students on a daily basis, in various parts of the country. I know good teachers who have changed careers because they were scared of some of the students they have faced on occasion. People that are studying to become educators show some apprehension because of what they have heard from other teachers.

Obviously not all children are bad, but there is a growing trend of total disrespect and worse, when it comes to authority figures.

As parents, we must be aware of our own behavior because our children will imitate what they see, not necessarily what they hear from us...
Let's be a right example for them in all things!
